AI Journey Grade 9

Step into the world of Artificial Intelligence! This hands-on course introduces Grade 9 students to the fundamentals of AI—how it works, where it’s used in daily life, and how it’s shaping the future. Through real-life examples, interactive activities, and creative projects, students will learn to think like AI innovators. They’ll explore how computers can “see,” “think,” and “understand” language, and get started with simple coding, data, and ethics. The journey finishes with students building their own mini-AI project and a digital portfolio to showcase their learning.

Key Features

  • No experience needed: Designed for beginners—just bring your curiosity!
  • Project-based learning: Solve real-world problems and build your own AI mini-project.
  • Data skills: Collect, visualize, and analyze data using fun, no-code tools.
  • Ethics first: Explore the impact of AI, its benefits, risks, and how to use it responsibly.
  • Start coding: Learn basic Python and see how AI uses code to make decisions.
  • Interactive and creative: Games, group work, hands-on labs, and AI experiments.
  • Portfolio development: Build a collection of your projects, reflections, and ideas.
  • Connect to careers: See how AI links to future jobs and 21st-century skills.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain what Artificial Intelligence is and describe its main domains (Data, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing).
  2. Identify everyday examples of AI and how they affect our lives.
  3. Understand and use the AI Project Cycle: problem scoping, data collection, exploration, modeling, evaluation, and deployment.
  4. Collect, visualize, and interpret data using simple graphs, dashboards, and digital tools.
  5. Discuss the ethics of AI, including fairness, bias, privacy, and its role in society.
  6. Recognize the basics of machine learning, generative AI, and how AI “learns” from data.
  7. Write and run simple Python programs for basic AI tasks (no prior coding needed).
  8. Work collaboratively on projects, communicate findings, and reflect on learning.
  9. Create and present a mini-AI project that connects AI to a real-life problem.
  10. Build a digital portfolio to showcase their projects, reflections, and new skills.
